Summer Trip - 2009

Day 3: Salisbury
We took the long tube trip out to Heathrow to pick up our rental car and we headed west.  We noticed "Southampton" on one of the road signs, so we detoured over there in search of Titanic stuff.  After lunch at TGI Fridays (yes, TGI Fridays), sure enough - we found the Titanic museum and enjoyed our visit.  Late in the afternoon, we drove up to Salisbury, met the owners of our B&B, and checked into our very nice rooms.  Dinner at a great Indian restaurant, a stroll through a sleepy Sunday night Salibury, and we turned in for our early wake up tomorrow.  Quote of the day: "calculating route" (uttered dozens of times by our GPS, typically after missing turns on roundabouts).

Day 4: Salisbury
After a short night, we arose at 5am, tiptoed out of the B&B so as not to wake our fellow guests, and headed out to Stonehenge.  We joined 22 others for special access inside to watch the sunrise, and we managed to offend the many orthodox Druids that were trying to celebrate God knows what.  We made it back to the B & B in time for B, and then headed over to the beautiful Salisbury Cathedral for a quick visit.  We only missed a couple of turns on the way back to Heathrow, and we dozed through the 24-stop tube ride back in to London to catch the Eurostar for Paris.
